Hello! We're glad you're interested in the LMG Content Creators Jam! What is it? It's a one-week long jam where the goal is to make short, instructional videos related to the game creation process. This can be a tutorial on how to use a game development tool, an art program, or a real-life method to contribute to games. We're letting the community contribute this content to our Youtube channel to provide everyone else access to the shared knowledge that exists within our community!

Here are the basics:

  • What's expected of jammers
    • Create 1 or more short video tutorials that are 1+ minute long each.
    • These tutorials can be on any subject related to the game creation process (engine how-to's, program tutorials, traditional art or craft mediums).
    • Tutorials based on a diverse set of skills or tools are encouraged.
    • No editing is necessary!
    • No requirement to show your face in the video.

These videos will be uploaded to our Youtube channel, and distributed publicly to our community. LMG will retain all rights to the submitted videos and will license them to the community on a CC BY SA license upon release. You can find out more details about the CC BY SA license here.

Here are some requirements for the video submissions

  • Submissions must be one or more one minute (or longer) video tutorial(s). They must contain no slides or effects in the intro or outro.  Slides and effects elsewhere in the video are okay. Editing is okay, but not required.
  • Submissions must not contain any copyrighted music.
  • Submissions must contain clear and concise audio of your voice narrating the instructions for the tutorial.
  • If applicable, recordings of your desktop must be clear and high resolution, and text, objects, or required interactions must be large and read clearly.
  • If your video includes webcam footage of yourself, please ensure that your webcam does not cover important parts of the screen required to understand the contents.
  • Try to mitigate mistakes that disrupt the flow of the tutorial. For example, using the wrong tool in an art program to draw something or writing code and debugging it during recording. Planning is key, but it’s understood that people make mistakes! If there’s a mistake you can’t edit out, let us know and we can help.
  • You must agree that you own all content displayed and heard in the tutorial video.
  • Files must be submitted in mp4, flv, mov, or avi format.
  • Submissions may be submitted as the above formats or together in one zip file.
  • You must agree that Louisville Makes Games reserves all rights to the above video and that they will be redistributing the video under the CC BY SA license. For more info, visit here.
