Guac: "Look, Gabe, think about what you're asking me for. I know Valve is in a rough patch after the Machine, but do you really think Liquidation is necessary? I thought we were saving Half-Life 3 for emergencies like this."
Gabe: "Mr. Guac, someone `rm -rf`ed the entire Half-Life 3 source code. There are no other options left. We have to get our games off the shelves. ALL OF THEM!"
Gabe: "WATCH_DOGS 2 is dropping to 95% off. Drop RAIN WORLD to 90 too."
Guac: "But Gabe, that's insane! They'll eat us alive with those prices."
Gabe: "THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS GUAC! Call Hack Club. Latta and I were on the yacht last weekend, and I like him. Figure out some way we can give the games to teenagers for free through them."
Guac: "Do I have to? Their receptionist always just meows at me."
Gabe: "It's the only way. I'm overwhelmed - my lucid dreaming/anti-aging/deep stasis chamber beckons me to return. GladOS, end the call."

Liquidate is a game jam run by Guac and Max at Hack Club in sync with the Steam Summer Sale, where teens 13-18 can get Steam grants for making their own games.
Grants are based on development time tracked with Hackatime and Lapse, and games that win our various award categories will receive additional game codes.
No more than 30 percent of your recorded time spent working on art and assets through Lapse will be counted towards your grant.
Make awesome stuff, get awesome games. We can't wait to see what you'll cook up.
the funds you get to spend in the steam summer sale are based on the amount of "good practice hours" you spend on your games. a "good practice hour" means an hour spent actively coding, working, or debugging! it does not include time spend watching tutorials, vibecoding, or generally putting in little effort. what this means is that hours will be deflated if it seems that the submission is low effort, heavily vibecoded, or if the hours seem inflated with no explanation. projects that show signs of maliciously inflated hours, or very high amounts of AI usage will be rejected out write.
We want this system to remain beginner friendly, and we know all too well how long debugging can take, especially when trying something new and pushing your limits! because of this we ask that people document there work through git commits while writing about your progress, learning, and challenges in your github readme every few hours, that way we can approve hours and award prizes accurately!
$6.50 in steam games for every approved hour spend developing.
there will be 3 categories voted on:
-Art
-Gameplay
-Coolness
more info on voting and the prizes awarded to our winners will be added soon.
