Hi everyone! This is a polishing jam for the Lil Guy Game Jam 2025 participants! What this means is that participants will have the ability to work on their game submission again and refine parts they either couldn't get to or weren't completely happy with! The goal of this jam is to improve what you've already made! The jam this year will be unranked.
- The Lil Guy Game Jam started this year and will be an annual jam every March!
- Following this, The Lil Guy Game Polishing Jam will be every August!
- Participants are allowed to work on their games in between the Lil Guy Game Jam & Lil Guy Game Polishing Jam, but please be mindful of the content rules if you still want the game to be applicable + reviewed within this jam.
When all is done, these submissions will be rereviewed live on Twitch! Others are welcome to stream the submissions as well--let us know when you do so we can shout you out and send people over to tune in!
NOTE: The rules are the same as the official Lil Guy Game Jam rules, with slight adjustments to make it more applicable to this jam.
WHAT IS A "LIL GUY"?:
- A "lil guy" is a term of endearment used for (usually) small, endearing creatures. Many small mascot characters are referred to as "lil guys", for reference!
- After much inquiry, I've created this slideshow as reference for various examples of "lil guy" characters!
- If you have any concerns on whether or not your design counts as a "lil guy", consult a staff member (hosts, judges, etc!)
RULES
- No AI generated assets and/or content. This includes but is not limited to: artwork, models, music, writing, etc!
- If your game covers sensitive content, can trigger epilepsy, etc. be sure to include a content warning!
- NO NSFW, NO porn imagery or sfx.
- CLARIFICATIONS:
- Characters with big breasts are allowed, but do not oversexualize them.
- Characters are allowed to wear "sexy" outfits, but do not make the designs too explicit.

- Caricatures are fine as they are the basis of a lot of character design, but we will not allow offensive caricatures created to dehumanize demographics of people based on race, gender, sexuality, etc.

- No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, islamophobia, antisemitism, etc.
- For the main jam you must only start working after the jam begins, but for this jam you can continue to work on your submission after the first jam ends straight until this one starts if you want--though it's not required!
- Practice good sportsmanship! Don't speak poorly on others or their submissions, and don't be a sore loser/winner! (Applicable for years where they are ranked--this is the first one, so it won't be!)
- You are welcome AND encouraged to stream/share the process of creating your game. If you join the server, there is a special role that will allow you to be able to add your streams to your schedule.
- You are welcome to use:
- Free / creative commons 0 assets
- Assets you've purchased/licensed
- Resources/assets/code/etc. provided by the engine you're using
- Assets you've made in the past
- If you use assets not created by you or one of your teammates, please ensure that you:
- Check that it was NOT created with AI.
- List the creator in the credits, even if they say on their page you don't have to.
- Follow any specific rules/credits pertaining the assets specified by the creator.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Your game MUST include a "lil guy" of sorts that is very prevalent in the game whether it is the main character, the enemies or everyone aside from the main character.
- No engine restrictions, work with what you like best!
- No genre restrictions or themes for this specific year (we want to work out all the kinks)!
- Be sure to list your credits!
