What is a game jam?

A game jam is an event that brings individuals or groups together to create a small game based around a shared theme. They're a fun way to connect with other people, explore new ideas, and learn about game development in a short window of time!

How do I get involved?

The good news is it's really simple to get involved! The August Jam is taking place remotely, so you can take part from the comfort of your own home. You also don't need any prior experience making games, as for many a game jam is their first taste of game development!

Jam Theme

Our August Jam has the theme:

'ACCUMULATE'

What does this theme mean to you?  What could it mean for others and games? You can interpret this theme however you want, your imagination is the limit!  

Rules

• Be kind to all other participants.
• Do not work on the game before the start date. (Thinking on ideas is okay but try to keep development for the actual jam.)
• Follow the Itch.io TOS.
• You can use assets that are royalty free or that you have a commercial license for. Though it is recommended that you create them yourself. (Jams are a perfect place to get in practice and try new things out.)
• Keep it appropriate for everyone. (No NSFW content.)
• Avoid the use of pre-existing IP.
• Any game engine is allowed. We recommend https://twinery.org/ if this is your first time making a game.

Game Showcase

There isn't a formal showcase but we plan on hosting a chill play-and-feedback session in the Discord server after the game jam ends.
