Welcome to the Legally Distinct Horror Jam.
This is a jam for tabletop games (or supplements, or whatever else you're feeling) through the month of October based on horror properties.
When I made this, I was thinking of films, but if you want to make something based off of a game or novel or whatever else, go for it.
The general guidelines here go like this:
- If you think your game counts as something based on/riffing on/messing around with a horror property, submit it!
- Pre-existing games are cool to throw in here, but I encourage you to make new things. It's October -- why not?
- No system attachment here. Use what you want, make something new, supplements for existing stuff, whatever goes.
- Put a price on your stuff! Your work has value. I'd recommend adding community copies as an option for those in need, though.
- Here's the big rule: horror is dark, but if you're going to throw anything bigoted, hateful, or exploitative in here then I'll remove it. Horror is sometimes about discomfort, but you don't need to make people feel unsafe.
- Additionally, think about what warnings you place on your game. Look into safety toolkits. The X-Card, Lines and Veils (lots of resources, but this is a pretty thorough explanation), and Script Change are all great tools to include in your game.
- Use the hashtag #LDHjam on Twitter! Tweet at me over on @kw_writing so I can yell about your stuff.
