This jam is now over. It ran from 2023-09-18 22:00:00 to 2023-10-25 22:00:00. View 29 entries

- Starts on Monday 18th September
- 1 month long
- Theme: "Non-linearity"
- Submission must be a playable level
- Any engine / game / tools allowed (Source and Unreal recommended, as they're popular with people in our Discord)
- Feel free to return to an old project, and spend the jam making it better!
- You can watch videos about our previous jams here

THEME:
The theme is... Non-Linearity!

- All this means is that whatever level you're making, you're encouraged to think about it the player's ability to make choices - no matter how small - about how they play

- Remember that non-linearity doesn't have to mean making a huge level with loads of different routes that are completely separate to each other. Things like player abilities, enemy types and item placement can create multiple ways to play a situation, within the same space. I made a little youtube short about this, here:

- Think about simple ways can you find to present more ways to play and interesting little choices to make, while keepingthe scope and complexity of the level nice and reasonable

- As always, try and get it to a rough, playtestable state as early as you can in the jam (ideally halfway), get feedback on it, and spend the rest of your time making it better before you submit!

MISC:
- This jam is open to anyone and is all hosted here on Itch, but our community will be talking and sharing progress / tips etc on on our level design discord here: https://discord.gg/geFkdZW5vp.
- The discord is a private server that you can access by supporting the Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/stevelee_gamedev
- This jam is timed to sync up with #Blocktober - so you can post your progress in the jam at the start of Blocktober, and post about your finished project before the end of it. Feel free to use the #leveldesignjam hashtag too if you wanna
