Welcome to Lazy Deadline Jam !

This is a chill jam for complete beginners who have never finished a game before. You can work slowly, at your own pace — the only real rule is to finish something by the end of the year!

Dates:

August 1st – December 31st, 2025
Voting: January 1st–10th, 2026

Who Can Join:

Anyone who has never fully completed a game before.

Rules:

  • Your game must be new — no old prototypes or demos.

  • It must offer at least 10 minutes of playable content.

  • Any engine/platform is allowed, but it must run on Windows or Linux (via native build or emulation).

  • You must credit all team members and their roles (even if you're working solo).

  • You must upload your game to itch.io and submit it to this jam.

Theme:

Free theme — make something you personally would love to play.

Evaluation:

Participants will vote on submitted games using the following criteria (1–5 stars):

  • Gameplay – Is it fun?

  • Originality – Is it unique or surprising?

  • Visual Style – Is it visually appealing or well-executed?

  • Project Completion – How complete and polished is the project?

Viewers/friends can leave likes on game pages, which may count as a bonus. (TBD — see “To clarify” below)

Teamwork:

Teams of up to 5 people allowed. Every member must be credited in the submission.

Community:

Post progress, share feedback, and encourage others in the jam's community tab!

Why this jam?

Many new devs never finish projects. This jam gives you a long deadline and no pressure to rush. Build in short bursts, take breaks, return refreshed — just keep going!

Q: Can I use assets made earlier?
A: Yes — just don’t reuse full projects.

Q: Will there be prizes?
A: Nope. Your finished game is your reward.

Q: What if my game is really buggy or short?
A: That’s okay! It’s about learning and finishing, not perfection.
