There have been nearly 200 talented programmers, artists, musicians, etc. who've expressed interest in participating in such a challenge, so now we're making it happen!

If you are unfamiliar with what a game jam is: It's basically a challenge to see if you can create a small video game within a very short time period, usually adhering to certain themes or rules.

THE CHALLENGE:
Create a Deltarune-themed fan-game to submit before December 20th, 2025 at 9:00 PM PST.
The theme: Winter! Consider this a loose theme... although I'm sure you'll have no trouble fitting snow-related things into a Deltarune fangame...

There won't be any formal rubric-based judging or tangible prizes... that's why I consider this more of a challenge than a competition. The point here is to get your creative juices flowing. and force all you non-committal creatives who can't finish a project for the life of you to actually make a finished work. I know what you are.

Overall, this is just for fun! So don't stress too much, don't sacrifice that much of your sleep schedule, and don't harass your teammates that much. 

... buuuuuuuut this is also for me to make a funny YouTube video where we go through and play all your silly fangames. So.... if you want to keep that in mind and make something that would get a good reaction out of me and potentially Dillon... that would make for good content...

In our video, we will give out two "Awards": The Best Overall Game, and The Funniest Game. These awards mean nothing other than being in the video but if you wanna gun for 'em you can.

THE RULES:

* You may work by yourself, or (more preferably) form a team of up to 7 people. (THIS IS A HARD LIMIT DO NOT ASK FOR AN 8TH).

* You may create any genre of game; it could be an RPG, a 2D platformer, visual novel, literally whatever you'd like.

* You may use ANY game engine, including one that you may have programmed yourself.

* However, your game must run on web browser (via itch.io) or on Windows.

* Your game should be about 30 minutes long. Obviously I'm not gonna sit here with a stopwatch and time all your games, but the point is so I don't have to play a bunch of 4 hour fangames. You're not trying to make the next Deltatraveler or UTY. This is a 9 day game jam. Set realistic goals and keep a small scope. 

* (If your game is shorter than 30 minutes that's totally fine I don't care. But just refrain from submitting something that's like... an hour long, y'know?)

IN ADDITION to whatever assets you create during the game jam period:

* You may use any pre-existing visual/music assets that you have made yourself.

* You may use any OFFICIAL UTDR assets ripped from the game... obviously we're not out here monetizing our fangames.

* You may NOT use any other assets you haven't made yourself, i.e., art you find on the internet, sprites ripped from other fangames, etc.

* You may NOT use Generative AI at all. 

* Your submission must be SFW. Obviously. No politics, no edgy jokes, no naughty words. If you make something and we have to cut it out of the video, that'll suck for you.

SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE DECEMBER 20th, 2025 at 9:00 PM PST.

You will submit your games through this itch.io page. Again, your game can either run on web browser via itch.io, or run on Windows.

I highly suggest you form a team!! There are literally hundreds of talented people on my Discord server, and you can get a lot more done when you work together!
