Welcome to the first-ever Katastrophic Code Jam!
This is a week-long game jam where bugs aren’t mistakes – they’re features. Whether it's weird physics, glitchy visuals, or completely broken gameplay: if it's intentional, it's fair game.
Let chaos be your co-pilot.
Let your game fall apart beautifully.
Let’s celebrate the art of catastrophic coding.
Jam starts: 28.04.2025 & 15:00
Jam ends: 05.05.2025 & 15:00
Voting period: 3 days after the jam ends
You’ll have one week to build your broken masterpiece.
The theme will be announced at the start of the jam!
Possible vibes: Intentional Bugs, Glitch is a Feature, Break the Game.
Interpret the theme however you like – the more creative, the better!
Stick to the theme – Make sure the theme is clearly reflected in your game in some way. Creative takes are totally encouraged!
Anyone can join – Solo, duo, team, beginner or veteran – everyone’s welcome.
Use any engine/tools – Unity, Godot, Unreal, HTML5, Scratch, pen and paper… go wild.
External assets are allowed – Feel free to use existing assets (sprites, sounds, music, code snippets, etc.) as long as you have the rights to use them (public domain, CC0, licensed, etc.).
Be kind, be fair – No hate speech, no stolen content, no shady behavior.
Submit on time – Late entries won’t be ranked, but might still be shown!
Prototypes are valid – Don’t stress perfection. Buggy, glitchy, half-working games are kind of the whole point.
After the jam, submissions will be rated by the community. You can vote on others’ games and they can vote on yours.
Creativity & Concept – Is the idea unique or fun?
Gameplay – Is it enjoyable to play, even if it's broken?
Theme Usage – How well is the theme interpreted or twisted?
Technical Execution – Did the game crash in a cool way, or actually run smoothly despite the chaos?
Audio/Visual Style – How do the visuals and sound support the experience?
Make sure to enable ranking on your submission so people can vote!
We’ll be hanging out, sharing progress, and helping each other on Discord:

Keep your scope small! One week goes by fast.
Test early and often. Even chaotic games benefit from a little structure.
Embrace the jank – it’s a feature, remember?
Get ready to break things in style.
Let the bugs thrive.
Let the jam begin. 🐛🔥
