The Electronic Game Developers Society is an interdisciplinary organization for students at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) with a passion for game development. Our mission is to help students grow as developers while fostering a supportive and welcoming community.
A classic rerun of the previous Jumble Jam in 2023, Jumble Jam 2026 is essentially a game of telephone, but game dev version. The jam is divided into 3 phases of development:
Assignment Phase: Teams/Participants will be assigned an empty Unity project forked from the starter code repository provided by us. At this phase you are free to create whatever game you want. Teams/Participants must leave a relatively detailed note explaining their vision. You will have 2 days on this.
Rotation Phase: Each Team/Participant will be re-assigned an Unity project that has been worked on by another Team/Participant. You must continue on top of their existing ideas! For fairness, everyone will start a new scene as a new level/section. You are encouraged to develop new features or gameplay mechanics that work in sync with the original devs' idea. We will have 2 rotations each lasting 2 days.
Stitching Phase: After the rotations, we (the officers) will stitch your games together and see how they turned out!
Here's a simple graphics for how it works, assuming there are 3 teams:
| Game 1 | Game 2 | Game 3 | |
| Assignment | Team 1 | Team 2 | Team 3 |
| Rotation 1 | Team 3 | Team 1 | Team 2 |
| Rotation 2 | Team 2 | Team 3 | Team 1 |
| Stitching/Clean Up | Officers | Officers | Officers |
Join the Discord server for the game jam to chat with participants, mentors, and club officers. Once in the discord server, fill out the Sign Up Form to register you and/or your team for the jam. The game jam will be a hybrid event, so you can join it from anywhere or join us on campus! You DO NOT have to be a UT student to participate. Anyone is welcome to join regardless of their skill level, and we will be having a game jam workshop for those that need it. Additionally, industry mentors will be there to help out Jammers. Jammers can choose to create their own team, go solo, or get matched with a team through a Google form.
Please note that at each transition period and for final submission you will be sending us your GitHub repository link, not a build. Make sure that your project builds correctly as the built games will be added to this page to showcase them.
You can volunteer to be a mentor or judge for Jumble Jam 2026 using the Volunteer Form. If you would like to contribute and help the Jumble Jam and EGaDS! community, sign up today! Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank you to all the Mentors, and Participants!
Due to the nature of this game jam's structure, the games created as part of this jam are not going to be ranked. Instead, the produced games and the contributing jammers will be showcased here on the itch page! We want participants to be having fun, learning new skills, and making new friends as we lead into the next semester.
Lets embrace the chaos and have a great Jumble Jam!
