The Theme is: PARALLEL

Welcome to the Jam!

This event has been created for people of any skill to come together and create! Create what exactly? Something, that's what! Over the course of 100 hours (making 2 days, lots of sleep and an appropriate amount of time to panic mash the last bits of your project together), we will do our best to make something that, to some extent, can be called finished, gaining experience and hopefully some valuable tips and feedback along the way. This doesn't even have to be a game. I'd love to see anything weird and wonderful that can come out of the creative process you'd like to share. Write a short story, make a Comic page created by photographing carved wooden panels, make some kind of FMV-mixed media thing, go nuts! Just make sure to make something, have fun, and be sure to take care of yourself during the course of the jam.

The jam will mostly be organized via the EC Game Jam Discord server. Click here to join! If you should be new to the community, do make sure to read the welcome channel carefully. For any lingering questions you have after reading this page, contacting me there is probably the fastest, easiest and most reliable way of getting answers, because, well, I am a Discord hermit.  I will however try to do my best to respond to any requests outside of that, but your mileage may vary.

So. How will this Jam work?

At the start of the jam, a Theme was revealed that you may choose to interpret however you like, both on this page, and in the Discord server. That Theme is Parallel. After this, you will have had 100 hours to finish your project, using whatever tools, assets or thingamajigs you please (as long as you have the legal right to use them of course!)

You are free to work with as many other people as you'd like if you choose, just be sure to not forget any credits in the excitement of a jam. You may find teammates, preferably before the jam, on the Discord.

(Did I mention I was running this jam from a Discord yet?)

Optional Challenges

If you somehow find yourself with extra time on hand, or generally want to further challenge yourself, here are a few entirely optional challenges;

  • Jamming like it's 1923 - Use a style that has gone out of fashion.
  • New face on the dancefloor - Find another jammer and put elements of each other's project in yours!
  • Drinks on the house - Incorporate something you've found in Creative Commons.
  • Ren Faire Festivities - Incorporate something from your local history.
  • The show must go on - Create cover art inspired by an object in your room and try to make it work.
  • Ducking Out - Add a duck to your project in honor of the ones that will not be completed this time.
  • Wait, who is that? - A mysterious black cat.
  • Afterparty - Use an element of any project submitted to the last jam you attended or observed.
  • Home - Contact someone you love who you haven't heard from in a bit. Maybe tell them about your jam idea. Whether they be family, by blood or found, old friends or someone otherwise important to you; There's a good chance they would like to hear from you.

With all that being said; I hope you have a great time during the jam, and also just in general, because you are probably an awesome person. Let's make something weird, different and novel for us!
