JARS, otherwise known as Just Another Roleplaying System- is just that. It's a rules-lite framework that is attempting to bring together elements of 90's trad games, modern story-driven works such as PbTA framework games, with a HINT of the NSR. Effectively, it's a homebrewed system that's trying to be everything I need it to be for the kind of games I want to write.
JARS is intended to be a framework, it's Creative Commons so all of it's parts can be pulled apart, thrown away, and rebuilt. The core of it is it's IDENTITY/TRAIT character creation- instead of a class from a list, you write down who your character is and what they can do- then apply THAT to a 2d6 roll.
Welcome to the first JARS AND JAM jam! JARS as mentioned above is a rules-lite ttrpg framework- beginner friendly and modular by design!
The main goal for this jam is to MAKE SOMETHING- whether it's a game, art packs, whatever- everythings on the table. The main two rules are as follows. First is within JARS itself- make sure that what you make is CC-BY-SA 4.0!
The second is this, taken from Olivia Hill's iHunt and modified.
If you're a fascist, you're not welcome to develop with this system. It's against the rules. If you're reading this and thinking, "You just call everyone you disagree with a fascist," then you're probably a fascist, or incapable of drawing inferences from context and acknowledging a dangerous political climate that causes the oppressed to be hyperbolic. Don't play this game. Heal yourself. Grow. Learn. Watch some Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood or something.
