| JAM THAT JANUARY 2026 |

Get ready to kick off the new year with a burst of creative energy in "Jam That January,"

a premier game development challenge designed to shake off the winter blues and ignite your passion for design. As the first month of the year unfolds, we are calling on creators, visionaries, and hobbyists to dive into their engines and build something truly remarkable from the ground up. This isn't just another weekend project; it is a high-spirited competition where your mechanics, art, and storytelling will be put to the test against a community of talented peers. The stakes are high for those aiming for the podium, as the top contenders will walk away with the ultimate seasonal reward: a stunning 100% discount across my entire library of paid games . It’s the perfect opportunity to ring in the year by sharpening your skills, expanding your portfolio, and earning an exclusive deal on a whole new collection of gaming experiences!

>>> RULES <<<

1. Human-Made Audio Only

To celebrate the raw talent of our developers, the use of Generative AI for music or sound effects is strictly prohibited. We want to hear your personal touch—whether you compose an original score, record your own foley, or use traditional (non-AI) asset packs and instruments. This ensures that every note and sound byte is a product of human creativity.

2. Originality is Key

Your entry must be an original creation developed specifically for this jam. While you are welcome to use base code or general-purpose libraries you’ve built in the past, the core game loop, story, and assets should be fresh. The goal is to see what you can dream up from scratch within the competition window!

3. Respect the Theme (25% Threshold)

While we encourage creative interpretation, your game must align with the official theme at least 25% of the time. This means that the theme should be a noticeable part of your gameplay, narrative, or aesthetic. It doesn't have to be the entire focus, but it shouldn't feel like an afterthought.

4. Keep it Accessible (No Explicit Content)

Because "Jam That January" is a community event, we have no way of knowing the age or sensitivities of every player. Therefore, explicit content is not allowed. Keep your games free of graphic violence, sexual content, or overly crude themes. Aim for an experience that can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

5. Peaceful Winter Vibrations

In keeping with the calm, chilly atmosphere of the winter season, we ask that you avoid sudden or excessively loud noises (such as "jump scare" screams or distorted ear-rape audio). We want the audio experience to be comfortable and fitting for a January vibe—think "crisp and cool" rather than "loud and jarring."

6. Zero Tolerance for Bullying

We maintain a positive environment for all creators. Bullying or shaming directed at other participants or real-world individuals will result in immediate disqualification. The only exception is if "shaming" is a fictional element performed by a character within the game's story and is not intended to target or harass any real people.
