Welcome to the IVGD Summer Jam 2023! This jam is organized by students and faculty of the Independent Video Game Design program at Dawson College in Montreal.
The goal of this jam is to create a casual space for students and amateur devs to practice their game development and networking skills by forming or joining a team and building a fun game over the weekend. Themes are provided by teachers of the program, and the jam is unranked.
Join us for a weekend of creative collaboration!
1. Teams must consist of a minimum of two (2) individuals or more. Solo projects are not permitted, as the IVGD Jam is also focused on fostering networking and collaborative game development.
2. Participation in the jam is open to all, including current or former IVGD students and individuals from any other background.
1. Your game must include the theme disclosed at the beginning of the jam, in some way or another.
2. 3rd party assets are allowed with a couple exceptions. We highly encourage you to use the skills you have gained to create your own assets, but we understand that it's not always possible.
2a. No paid assets, any that you use should be available to the public 2b. Games will be published so assets should allow you legally to release your game commercially
2c. This rule does not apply to editor tools
3. AI tools & content are allowed, but participants must disclose where, when and why they used it. 4. Participants are permitted to utilize code available online for this event but they must disclose it, similarly to how AI tools are handled.
1. The Jam Theme will be chosen by one of our IVDG Teacher and disclosed in this discord channel at the beginning of the jam this August 4th at 17:59:59.
1. Your game must be uploaded to Itch for public viewing and access on August 6th at 17:59:59.
2. Links for your project must be send in the Jam-chat channel. 3. At least one (1) of your team member must be present either on voice chat or in person to present your project to the jury and other participants the August 6th form 17:59:59 to 20:59:59.
1. The jam use a unranked format, the main goal is to allow participants to experiment, practice and meet new people.
2. The games will not be noted. But feedback will be provided by the teachers and the other participants.
