Hello and welcome all students of ITU!
What is a better way of starting the school year than with a game jam? You guessed it, nothing! It’s the perfect chance to meet new people, get creative, and build something fun together. Whether you’re here to code, draw, design, or just try something new, everybody is welcome!
A game jam is a short event where people team up (or go solo) to make a game in a limited amount of time, usually a couple of days but can stretch for longer periods as well. This game jam in particular will be over the course of a weekend. The focus isn’t on making something perfect, but on being creative, trying out fun ideas, and learning along the way.
A common thing in game jams is a theme. Everyone gets the same theme at the start, and you build your game around it. Many different kinds of games will sprout from the same theme!
The theme for this game jam will be revealed at the start of it!
Example of themes from previous famous Game Jams are: Loops, Evolution, Repair, What home means to you!
The Jam starts at 16:00 on Friday the 3rd of October to 16:00 on Sunday the 5th. On Monday the 6th at 18:00 in room 2A52 there will be some time for a showcase where you can show the game you worked on :)
For Friday and Saturday we have booked the rooms 2A52 & 2A54. However during Sunday we could not book anything so feel free to work from wherever :)
To be revealed at the beginning of the jam x)
To submit your game to the jam you upload your game to itch.io. Remember to make the game free and set the game to "Released".
If you're submitting a Unity game and want to provide a version that works in browsers, you should set compression type to Gzip from Unity's WebGL Player Settings.(Heavily recommended to do!)
Afterwards, return to the jam page and click "submit game" and choose your game from the dropdown menu, answer the required questions and then you've completed the submission!
You can submit the game at any point during the jam, and it is always good to submit quite a bit before the deadline in case something goes wrong!
We are happy to inform that we have acquired money for snacks and food! \o/
During the jam there will be snacks and (non-alcoholic)drinks.
There is also enough money in the budget to order food for Friday and Saturday dinner !
You are free to create teams on your own beforehand or when you get there but be open to working with new people :)
