Join us for two weeks of making personal websites, inspired by when the internet used to be a place and not just five websites that made us all oscillate between anger/despair/mania/etc. Make a page showing off your work, or just your interests! Link to your friends' pages, or stuff you enjoy online! Make a portfolio, embed your games/art/music, whatever; anything goes, just make a website that's about you. This is a casual, unranked jam where the only objective is to get a website up and running on whatever level you desire. We highly recommend the ever-fabulous Neocities, but use whatever's best for you!

Jammers are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to embed their games, audio, music, etc into their website! The joy of the old web (and the current indie web) is interactivity and how that inspires exploration and play; engage with it!

We also highly encourage jammers to link their pages to other community members'; our Discord is the best spot for that.

If you're unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, there's plenty of accessible ways to learn. Neocities provides a ton of free resources, and freeCodeCamp has a fantastic course as well. This is a NO AI jam; the purpose here is to let yourself learn a new skill or hone existing ones, while getting to know others in the community better. We highly encourage participants to engage with that process and the natural friction that comes with it.

Looking for inspiration? Check out Internet Archive and use the wayback machine for some period appropriate website looks; browse what people are making on Neocities; (Dreamcastle is a personal fav) or check out games inspired by the web, like Hypnospace Outlaw.

Also check out Retro Website Graphics if you're in need of some visual resources! Or see if any local artists in the Discord are down to help out.

If you wanna hang out as you work on your site, come join the  Indie City Games DiscordWe do game dev meetups and showcases around Chicago.

To submit your game to the jam, we recommend just submitting an itch page linking your website. (Bonus points for stylizing the itch page, though these will only net you increased bragging rights)
