LNJ, or Lucky Newt Jams, are jams hosted by Lucky Newt Games. Please be sure to read through the Rules section before you enter a submission.

Theme

This is just meant to be a fun jam that uses THIS Title Generator by Michael Klamerus. The titles cover a huge range of possibilities. For example, within my first three clicks I got:

  • "Arcade Friends: A rules-lite game for 2-4 players"
  • "Beyond the Dread: An action game for zero players"
  • "Quantum Karaoke: A Carta game for 1-6 players".

Seriously, even if you choose not to participate in the jam, I highly recommend checking it out. Check out his games, too. They look pretty cool :3

Anyway, with how varied and random the titles can get, we're leaning towards not creating a bundle for this. That decision is subject change in the midst of the jam though, depending on the number of entries we get and if they inspire some sort of bundling idea. So please keep that in mind when including your contact information.

Rules

All entries to this jam must:

  1. Be a TTRPG, or for a TTRPG. I'm not going to break out the old debate on what makes a TTRPG a true Tabletop Roleplaying Game. Use your best judgement. I'm not sure how well supplements, such as settings and adventures, will work for this since you're supposed to use the descriptor included with the title, but if you can make it work I'd love to see it!
  2. Fit the theme in some way. This one is going to be less strict than others. You don't have to use the very first title you get. You can click through as many times as it takes for inspiration to strike. As long as your game is inspired in some way by the prompt you get, it fits the theme. Bonus points if you use the title you got as the title your game!
  3. Be your own creation. Please be mindful of copyright laws, and understand plagiarism will not be tolerated. To put it simply, Swiper no swiping! I forgot to cover it here before, but this includes AI. No AI art or AI-written game please!
  4. Not promote hatred, violence, bigotry, etc towards any irl group or people. You can probably find a different game jam for that, but it's not welcomed here.
  5. Be accessible for free during the jam. This ensures that all games can be checked to make sure they follow the rules. You can use Community Copies, send me a download key, or set it as a (limited time) PWYW, whatever works best for you and your creation.
  6. Be SFW. Some of the title suggestions get pretty mature, and you're free to save those for inspiration for a different project. At most, we're open to R-rated games, though we prefer nothing higher than PG-13ish.

You can:

  1. Submit multiple games. The more, the merrier!
  2. Work individually, in pairs, or in teams.  Just make sure credit goes where it's due.
  3. Submit old and/or new games. I don't know how applicable this is here, but if you've used this game generator before to create a game, we'd love to see it!
  4. Have your game set as paid or PWYW. I recommend paid because you're putting work and time into this, but that's up to you.
  5. Make your game any length. Whether it fits on a business card or takes several pages, it's welcomed... though I might have to skim through the novels.

Feel free to join our Discord Server for more help and ideas. Happy creating!
