Let's Get Jamming

Indie Harbour Jam is a 5 day jam that runs 3 times a year. This is a fun way to explore something new, meet other devs, and talk about games. Of course, at the end of this you will have a project to share with your friends, family, and other devs.

This jam is for the Indian Dev Community but everyone is welcome to join. Your entry must have some Indian inspired content, however small it is to your game... we will be very lenient on this.

In the week following the jam there will be a meet-up in Delhi and Bangalore (location will be shared on Discord) where we will play each others game. Developers are welcome to join even if they did not manage to submit. For those who cannot make it, we will be streaming the event live on discord.

What if this is my first game jam?

That is awesome! There is a first time for everything, and you will learn a lot. We have a very supportive community and also a channel on discord where you can find resources to learn new tools and tips for game jams.
Here is a video by Brackeys to help you get started.

Theme

The theme for this jam is 'The Road Less Travelled'

Voting

Participants will score each other's game to determine the winner based on the following categories: Fun, Theme, Artwork, Audio, and Narrative. There is no overall ranking so don't feel that your game should have everything.

The winner of the jam will be recognised in the Discord.

Guidelines

  1. Indian Community

This jam celebrates the Indian community so be sure to include some Indian inspired content in your games.

  2. Compatibility

You must include a web build that runs on the browser in your submission. You can have additional builds for other systems if you want.

  3. Teams

Teams are allowed and encouraged. If you don't have a team you can find a team in our find-a-team channel on Discord . We suggest that you keep your team under 4 people as it can get hard to coordinate with more members.

  4. Content Suitability

The game should be suitable for a general audience, so please avoid strong language and excessive gore. And your game should not contain nudity, or hateful language or visuals.

  5. What assets can I use?

You are free to use any assets that are not subject to copyright. You can use free assets that you find online, music, art, and code made for old projects, paid assets you find on various stores, etc.  Be sure to credit the media you use in your description.

We only ask that the game is built within the development period of the jam.

  6. Generative AI

We want to support creators, including artists, and programmers so we discourage the use of Generative AI, we encourage you to team up with someone on our discord. However, game development is not easy and you may not always find a team so if you feel you need to use generative AI, you may. If you do use AI make sure to mention where and which model you used, whether it is for programming, art, or sound.
