Impressions Composing Jam: 

Imagination Jam #1

Intro

This is a laid back mini composing jam, intended to be very low pressure. This particular one has no required theme, and is open ended.

Since most jams tend to emphasize achieving high quality in all regards, and takes this rigor and focus, I wanted to create a mini jam that pushes you to loosen your focus and enter into your imagination. Just because something is "creative," does not mean that it is necessarily bizarre or random. Often times, creativity ends up giving us that feeling of "wow, I've never seen that before... why does it make so much sense?"

Compose in any genre you'd like.

The voting period will be one week, unless an extension is needed.

Submit a minimum of 1 minute of music. Don't use music from previous jams. You may submit as much music as you'd like, but do keep in mind that this jam is meant to be a relaxing jam meant to push your creativity.

Theme: The Light That Pieces the Darkness

Writing to the theme of this jam is completely optional. It is a guideline to give your mind something to grab.

Rating Categories

Overall Uniqueness - did you feel like what you heard was fairly unlike other things you've heard before?

Mixing Quality - Is it well mixed? Does everything sound well balanced? How is the stereo imaging, reverb, etc?

Composing Quality - Is it well composed, despite perhaps being mixed in a mediocre way? Complexity does not innately make a composition good, keep in mind.

Listenability - This is the "sanity check" of music. Music can be intriguing, unique, or interesting, but you just don't want that sound in your ears anymore for some reason you can't quite place, and you know it isn't just that the genre is outside of your taste.

Submission Checklist

• 1 minute of material from a chosen project, uploaded to your project page, uploaded as MP3, WAV, or similar.
• Screenshot of your DAW somewhere in either your project page or submission page.
• Link to a streaming service, such as Spotify, Soundcloud, or YouTube.

If you are submitting close to the deadline, just worry about uploading your music to the project page. You can add in the streaming service later.
