What is "Buwan ng Wika"?

Buwan ng wika (Tagalog: National Language Month - Philippines), is a month long celebration of the National language of the Philippines, Filipino.

This celebration is held for the entire month of August.

Despite calling it a National Language Month, most institution around the Philippines also use the month-long observance to showcase the Philippine Culture and Heritage around the country.

What is a Game Jam?

A game jam is a short game development event where you and others work together to create a game, usually a small prototype or a small full game. Game Jam's often have restrictions , rules, and/or themes in place to make them more challenging. Game Jam's can help improve your game development skills, create and test ideas and concepts. connect with other people in the local industry, and so much more!

What is Indie Games Group Philippines?
Indie Games Group Philippines is an official chapter of Google’s indie community initiatives. It hopes to nurture skilled and original thinkers by providing a supportive and empowering environment where game developers can come together to produce meaningful and impactful games that push the boundaries of the medium.

CHALLENGES

Your Language

Tagalog shouldn't be the only language to be celebrated. Bisaya, Ilocano, Kapangpangan, and other Philippines Languages are also on the table. Try to showcase your Local Language thru games.

All challenges are optional and is not a requirement.

You are allowed to use any game engine or framework either paid or free, and use any assets not made by yourself either be paid or free. except any new assets specifically be made for the jam should only be made during the game jam.

Conceptualization and planning of the game is allowed before the Game Jam starts. It is not allowed, however, to begin working on the game before the Game Jam starts. Planning can include: rough sketches of characters, backgrounds, and/or CG's and making an outline of the storyline you plan to make your game on.

Making the game before the Game Jam starts in strictly prohibited and will be disqualified.

Solo developer submission is allowed but we encourage people to form a team. Check out the official Indie Games Group PH discord server for anyone looking for a team or post one of your own.

There is no limit to which an amount of people can participate, we also allow adding more team members during the game jam proper.

No restriction on how many group a single person can join, But not recommended.

Game should be submitted before the deadline, otherwise it will be disqualified. If you having technically difficulties and cannot submit your game on time, we will allow late submission which will be by Indie Games Group PH discretion. (ie. brownout, heavy storm, ISP/electric company announced maintenance, etc..)

No restriction on the type of games you can create but keep it Safe For Work  (SFW), games using AI or similar technology  are required to disclosed onto their game pages.

Anything you make and/or submitted for this game jam is still your property, Indie Games Group Philippines claims no rights or ownership of your game.

Any Games submitted may be featured in Indie Games Group Philippines Social Media and Discord Server.
