This jam is now over. It ran from 2023-10-19 23:30:00 to 2023-10-22 21:00:00.

The Jam

This is not your ordinary jam! As a send-off for our inaugural season "Portfolio Madness," we are holding a *Portfolio Jam*

What's a portfolio jam, you ask? It's precisely what you think it is! Indie Game Academy strongly believes that having a portfolio is just as important as having a resume when applying for jobs. So if you don't already have one, you should! And we're here to help!

Kickoff

On October 19th at 7:30pm EST, in our Indie Game Academy discord, you are invited to attend a kickoff combined with a workshop, providing the basic tools and tips to get your started on your first (or second or third or millionth) portfolio.   JOIN NOW!

Here is the uploaded video from the kickoff:

*Bonus Classes*

You didn't think we would give you a workshop and then just send you off on your merry way, did you? We have so much more planned! These events will be held in our Discord. Not a member, JOIN NOW!

October 20th - 6:30pm EST/3:30pm PST - Join our resident technical professor Dylan as he hosts one of his famous Intro to Flappy Bird classes, followed by instructions on how to upload it to Itch.io!

October 21st - 4:00pm EST/1:00pm PST - Justin Williams, a  LinkedIn Top Gaming Industry voice, will share his valuable insights on creating impressive portfolios and resume best practices. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced professional, this event is perfect for anyone looking to enhance their resumes and portfolios!

October 22nd - 5:00pm EST/2:00pm PST - Closing Ceremony and Portfolio Review - We will be holding an event to celebrate your efforts and host a peer review and feedback session on your portfolio. Didn't participate in the jam but have a portfolio to share, you're more than invited to come! Don't have a portfolio, but interested in what others created for inspiration, join!!!

How to submit

At the October 20th workshop, we will show you how to upload your game to itch.io, so you will have an official submission for this jam. However, if you do not take part in the class, that does not disqualify you from this jam! We do ask that you mark yourself as participating so that we have an idea of how many folks to expect. And mark yourself interested in the workshops so that you get notified when the classes and jam celebration start!
