Great question! A GDD is a "game design document" that outlines and organizes the ideas of a potential game. It can contain written thoughts, pictures, outlines, or anything else that helps the developer(s) in the game creation process.
You will have 3 days to create a GDD either solo or with a team. You can use the GDD format found below, or you can absolutely create your own!
At the Jam kickoff, we will host a game design training session on how to write these!
The GDDs will be judged by submitters and contributors of the jam. The citreria will be as follows:
Please join the discord for an informational workshop where the theme will be revealed!!

We want to reward our participants for their hard work! Prizes will be announced at the Jam kickoff.

At Indie Game Academy, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to create their own games. That's why we've created a free Game Design Document (GDD) template that we're now making available to everyone.
Originally designed for our students, this template is now available to anyone who wants to use it. It's structured to be easy to navigate, with explanations for all fields and even a short guide on how to use it. The document is extensive, but it's meant to be customized by anyone who uses it. You can remove any fields that aren't relevant to your project.
Whether you're a seasoned veteran or just starting out, our GDD template can help you organize your thoughts and create a roadmap for your game development project.
You can download the PDF in the attached document or just copy the Google Docs file here: https://lnkd.in/eTdJj2BW
