This game jam will explore the history and culture of Poland...

From its foundations to its myths to its modern political and social struggles. Teams will be formed of students from the PJAIT in Warsaw, and Northeastern University in Boston. Together you will create games that explore and celebrate Polish Identity.

Games from this jam will be selected for further development in the Dialogue of Civilizations: Poland in Pixels project...

During the Summer of 2024 in Warsaw at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Infomation Technology. Selected games will then be exhibited at the 250,000-person GamesCom convention in Cologne Germany at the end of the Summer. The full list of participants and the teams behind winning games will be featured at the convention.


The game jam will be held in on-campus space in both Boston and Warsaw...

However, remote participation is possible with the agreement of all members of a team. All participants must be members of one of the hosting institutions in order to participate on-site in Boston. Open participation is allowed online and on the site in Warsaw.

  • WW2 Polish Underground and the Warsaw Uprising
  • From the 18th century through WW2, there was no Poland (Imperial Age diaspora)
  • Kościuszko (historical figure) led a battalion in the US Revolutionary War
  • Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth
  • The first Christian King of Poland around 900 AD
  • Modern Struggle to balance a rich Polish Identity with a balanced global identity

Notes:

  • You do not have to be participating in the Dialogue to participate in the Game Jam.
  • To be selected for further development and exhibition you must grant permission to the student teams who are participating in the Dialogue to continue the development of your Game Jam game submission.
  • All students participating in the game jam will be credited as part of the GamesCom exhibition.
  • Team members from the selected games will be featured as part of the exhibition of their games which will have been completed by students participating in the Dialogue.
  • You may participate in the game jam and NOT grant permission for the further development of your game if you want to participate but do not want your game to be developed further and exhibited.
