Hot Horror Jam is a tabletop RPG jam of intimate horrors, the supernatural, and how they turn us on. Submissions due August 18th EXTENDED TO August 31st!

Rules

• Write a short analog roleplaying game only (ie. tabletop, LARP). ‘Short’ should ideally mean 1-4 pages of text and images, excluding cover image, credits, prefaces, content warnings, and blank pages.
  
  • It should be a full/standalone game, and not a module for an existing one.
    • 'Standalone' means the game can be played by itself (with accessories like pen, paper, dice, etc.).
    • Hacks of pre-existing games are 100% allowed.
    • Twine is allowed as an exception to the analog rule, but must be accompanied by a text-only/PDF version of your game for accessibility.
  • The writing and design should be done within the 3-week period of the jam but you are free to come up with ideas beforehand.
  • It's highly encouraged to include a text-only version of your game instead of/in addition to a PDF if possible.
  • Multiple submissions are allowed, and even encouraged. The more the merrier!

• Your game must focus on the term 'Hot Horror', your interpretations and what they can/might mean/inspire.
  • Hot might be interpreted as strong emotions, physical reactions, intimacy eg. Passion, Stimulation, Sexuality, Crushes, Relationships, Consent, Cute, Feelings, Sex, Sweat, Physical heat, Bodies, Warmth, Romance, Blushing, Shame, Desires etc.
  • Horror might be interpreted as the genre, landmark works, your own fears eg. Movie tropes, Killers, Monsters and beasts, Folklore and myths, Nightmares, Paranoia, Things in the dark, Revelations, Phobias, Loneliness, Loss, Existensialism, etc.
  • Supernatural tales, folklore and myths from around the world can be used. However, be sensitive and respectful if you are writing about material from another culture. Do your research and seek cultural consultants!

• Have fun and be safe!
  • Don't push yourself too hard. There are lots of game jams going on, and it's totally okay to take a break.
  • Keep in mind your safety tools during design. Horror in roleplaying games can be tricky and get out of hand at the table with its contents, so take precautions to keep your players safe. You are encouraged to use this organised, easy-to-read  roleplaying games safety/support toolkit by Kienna Shaw (@KiennaS) and Lauren-Bryant Monk (@jl_nicegirl)!
  • Provide adequate content warnings and precautions for your roleplaying game if it includes any material which can be considered adult, graphic, violent, and/or sensitive - preferably within your game, and on its main page.
