Home of Nerds is hosting its first Game Jam for all the awesome developers who have joined our community! The Game Jam is LIVE!!! You still can join and participate and we would love to have you here ! The only requirement is that you join our discord server since this jam is for our amazing community! Welcome everyone and lets make this the best February Game Jam ever! The theme is: "Dying is Good"

Official Game Jam Prizes:

Team Nerd Prizes:

• 1^st Place: The first place team will win a VIP PR session with @GoPublix. This is a 4 hour PR planning session focusing on your game. Includes a 2-week media relations guide and you will receive a personally written game press release created by an industry expert. The winning team will win a $100 Gift Card (split between teammates) from either Steam or Amazon depending on your preference.

The team will receive an officially designed physical certificate for each member from Home Of Nerds to commemorate your victory! You will also receive HON lanyards, t-shirts, and be granted special Discord Badges as the winners.

• 2^nd and 3^rd Place: You will receive a special HON lanyard and t-shirt for participating in our first ever game jam*!

Solo Nerd Prizes:

• 2^nd Place: You will win a $30 Gift Card from either Steam or Amazon depending on your preference. Also receive a special HON lanyard and t-shirt for participating in our first ever game jam*!

• 3^rd Place: You will win a $20 Gift Card from either Steam or Amazon depending on your preference. Also receive a special HON lanyard and t-shirt for participating in our first ever game jam*!

* The prizes may take anywhere from 1-21 days to be delivered / redeemable. This includes digital prizes and delivery.

Official Rules:

Those who work alone are considered a Solo Nerd; Teams are considered Team Nerds. Prizes will be awarded to each group. Games must be submitted before the deadline ends, at which point (edit*) we will announce the winners.

1. All participants must indicate whether they are working solo or as a team.
2. Teams may have a maximum of 5 members.
3. a) Teams must create all art and major code assets during the jam. b) Solo Nerds may use unpaid, royalty free art and code assets.
4. Royalty free music and sound effects are allowed for both solo and team nerds.
5. (Royalty free means the creator has licensed the art for use with or without credit.)(Certain assets such as fonts, your logo, and certain content generators are permitted.) You may use any tools at your disposal.
6. You may use the basic source code you have available. This code must be shared afterwards. If your engine of choice does not use source code (Gamemaker Studio, Gamesalad, etc) then this is not required. Do not abuse this.
7. Solo Nerds may invite team members after the jam begins, and will then be considered a team. Members of a team, however, cannot change their status to Solo Nerd after the event begins.
8. Do not start working on your game early. The purpose of a game jam is to create your game during the time limit. Cheating and lying by starting early will disqualify you. Please respect your fellow devs by adhering to these rules.
9. Absolutely no NSFW material! Racism, sexism, hate speech, pornographic material, and promotion of illegal activities will result in immediate disqualification.
10. Your game will be judged based on: Innovation, Graphics, Theme, Fun, and Overall. While strict adherence to the theme is not required, it will impact your Theme score.
11. Major bug fixes are permitted post-jam, but you may not include additional features or content. Changes must be clearly documented.
12. Violation of these rules, and otherwise deceptive practices will result in immediate disqualification.
