Welcome to hiccup's cozy jam for fun, also known as HCJFF!

This is the first game jam I'm hosting as an invite to join me in making something related to a game in the month of November, whether you've never looked into making games or you've made several. This jam is non-competitive and up to you, so whether you want to submit a single character animation or a full game you made by yourself or with some friends, the goal is just to make something!

The theme for the jam is COZY. Whether that's sweaters or coffee or watching horror movies, interpret the theme as you see fit.

Now there are a few rules:

  1. Please keep all entries safe for work.
  2. Please no flipping assets that are copyrighted. I would recommend looking at either opengameart.org or searching for assets here. If you make a fan game, please generate all assets yourself.
  3. Please credit all people involved. You can list the names of people on the page or in the game itself
  4. Remember, the game is yours! Please don't submit other people's games as your own.
  5. Have fun! This is just a way to get the juices flowing.

Now if you have never done game dev before, here are a couple recommendations for software:

  • GB Studio - A no-code solution for making Game Boy Roms. A great way to practice making games within limitations. Also has a tracker to make music in.
  • Gamemaker - A solid game engine with a built-in sprite that can be used to make some pretty solid games. Has a strong non-code option, but also has a coding language that is pretty powerful. Throw in a built-in sprite editor, and it's an (almost) all-in-one game dev starter pack.
  • Godot - The engine that I started in, this is an open source game engine that can be very powerful. While relying on coding, there are some phenomenal tutorials such as those by Brackey.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
