Hambacher Forst gamejam was a local gamejam at the Cologne Game Lab about creating games for good!
The piece of old-growth woods - that was supposed to be cut down for coal mining - has become a symbol in Germany and internationally for ending coal mining. Activists build treehouses in the woods to prevent them from being cut down and people protested next to the forest to support their cause, with more than 50.000 people taking part in the biggest event.
While the cutting has been momentarily stopped, we wanted to ask the question with our games how "Hambi" would look in the near future (2020).
Within 24 hours people created games inspired by the Hambacher Forest, from the destruction from the view of a fox to more fun approaches to the topic, such as building treehouses for activists that have to withstand people shaking the trees.
