Wait, why doesn't the jam run through the end of October?

Yeah, that would make sense, but then most people would be submitting their entries in late October, giving people very little time to actually enjoy them before Christmas season starts on November 1st. Cutting off submissions on October 13th ensure that there will be time for everyone to edge themselves to Halloween.
