I am Gunscreen. I am a YouTuber who makes mostly horror-game related videos and have recently breached 250k subscribers.
To honor this achievement - and give something back to the community: I am hosting my first ever Game Jam!
This is the first ever Gunscreen Game Jam - and it's made for you all. Experienced devs, but also people who are entirely new to Game Development. In just 14 days, you will create and finish your own video game and with a bit of luck might even get featured in upcoming Gunscreen Livestreams/Videos!
The game you create and submit must be based around the jams topic, which will be revealed as soon as the jam starts. Besides that make sure to follow the rules and join the Discord Server!
Teams with up to 3 members are allowed.
Have fun & Game on!🕹️
THE THEME IS ↓↓↓
RULES ABOUT TOPIC
1. Your game must be based OR inspired on a REAL-LIFE serial killer. (You can interpret your own story, or an inspired story.) The connection must be clear and recognizable, no loosely inspired interpretations.)
2. Out of respect for victims and their families, do NOT use real victim names.
3. Do your research! (The best entries will feel grounded, believable, and realistically unsettling, incorporating real details and documented elements of the cases.)
4. Also if you have any questions and concerns feel free to post them in the community tab, and me or one of the admins will help you!
↓ Clarifying a few extra rules/concerns ↓
1. This jam is not to bring entertainment to serial killers, or some crazy shock value game to the table. It's about shedding light on real tragedies, similar to what's been done in many tv shows in the past.
2. You cannot show/describe in detail any sexual content whatsoever. If it is a key component for the serial killer as a whole, keep it too a minimum and only present it through implications. Please use common sense and do not include anything too extreme. I changed it too this, I feel as though implications go far enough, and we do not need anything that goes beyond that.(Also include warning at beginning of the game)
3. Do not depict references of minors in anyway as respect to actual victims and TOS.
(Update : If you do not feel comfortable making a game including a real life serial killer, you now have the option to make a game inspired by one.)
A game jam is always a fun experience - though in my opinion it's even more fun when there is something to win apart then just experience and a fun time in the end!
Therefore, these are the prizes up for the grabs!
🏆 1st Place - 1.000$
✨ 2nd Place - 500$
⭐ 3rd Place - 250$
🚫 DISCLAIMER 🚫 extremely INSENSITIVE/ILL RESEARCHED games may be removed from consideration.
Apart from that, the Top 5 Submissions will gain a special role on the Discord Server. My personal favourites will also be played live on Stream/featured in a video on my channel!

1. Use of Theme – How well does your game reflect the theme.
2. Storytelling - How creative and well-executed is your story? ( Did you tell a creative and believeable story based around the serial killer in someway? )
3. Realism - How well you researched your serial killer. (Including settings, interesting details, etc...)
4. Scare Factor/Atmosphere – How well did you build the world and tone? (In my opinion, a strong & unsettling atmosphere is WAY more effective than cheap jumpscares.)
5. Respect - This is a darker topic, so please make sure to respect the victims and understand the severity of the game you are creating. The point of this jam is to creatively and educationally portray the actions of real-life serial killers from the past in a way that’s impactful and meaningful.
