🎺 ABOUT THE JAM 🎺

The game jam kicks off at 9:00 on Friday, December 1, 2023, and will the submission deadline is at 18:00 on Thursday, December 15, 2023. There will be a wrap-up event on the 15th at Innovation House. Check out the Facebook event!

Remember, the jam runs for two weeks not so you'll work incessantly but to allow flexibility in participation for all, students and full-time employees alike. Finalize your idea and submit, even (especially) if it's well ahead of the deadline.

The theme is: ONLY ONE COLOR. Feel free to interpret that in any way you prefer!

Following the conclusion of the jam on Friday December 15th, we'll initiate voting for the best jam submissions. Voting will end on December 18th at noon, giving you the entire weekend to play and rate the games.

Even though there is a meet-up at the end of the jam, please note that attendance is not required  - making the jam accessible for all, including those residing elsewhere!

We'll utilize the #gamejam channel on our Slack for all jam-related communications. We recommend using this channel to share progress and ask questions during the jam. Collaboration is encouraged! A game jam is much more enjoyable in a group setting! For those on Slack, use the #gamejam channel to find potential teammates.

All game engines, third-party assets, and  even your existing assets are permissible.

You will have to submit to this page before the end of the jam for your game to be a valid submission.

🎺 TIPS & TRICKS 🎺

We recommend joining the Game Makers Iceland Slack and engaging with fellow participants there. It adds a lot of fun and interaction to the jam.

Keep the scope of your project as minimal as possible. The most successful game jam entries thrive on a simple, clever concept, mechanic, or aesthetic. Avoid overwhelming yourself. Remember, the jam runs for two weeks not so you'll work incessantly but to allow flexibility in participation. Finalize your idea and submit, even (especially) if it's well ahead of the deadline.

You'll need to create an itch.io account and ensure your game is submitted to this jam page before the deadline to count as a valid submission.
