We are organizing an online, all-digital, non-physical edition of the GGJ for the entire Netherlands. To help you feel like you're still part of a big deal, this itch.io jam can be used to share your progress and for playtesting the games made during the jam .
Most of our communication during the jam will be in the discord server that you gained access to when buying a ticket. Here you can finds all sort of channels! There is also a Twitch stream that will provide some fun and interesting content during the jam. So be sure to check that out as well.
In terms of rules: please be respectful, adhere to the GGJ code of conduct. https://globalgamejam.org/inclusiveness-policy-and-code-conduc
Thank you, meet new people, get creative, learn new techniques and enjoy the jam. :)
When you join this jam, you can use itch.io to upload your game to make it easily available for playtesting. We also added some rating criteria so people can rate your game once the deadline is reached. The GGJ itself is not a competition, so it is your choice to submit your game on this platform. The GGJ itself only expects you to submit your game to their website before the deadline, so you don't have to use itch.io. You could also upload your game to itch.io without joining this jam if you don't like the idea of being rated (but like the platform for playtesting).
If you submit your game to this itch.io jam, people can rate and leave comments with feedback and/or compliments on your game page so you will have a better idea of how your game is received. Especially now that the whole jam is online, it might otherwise be more difficult to get feedback or know how people liked your game. We also want to motivate everyone to leave a comment on the games you played, because the more feedback the better!
you can upload your game before the deadline. After the deadline you can still upload new files if you have bugfixes or improvements. But keep it to only critical bugfixes during the rating period, so games can be rated fairly. After the rating period which will end on the Sunday the week after, you are free to do what you want with your game.
When uploading you can add which diversifiers you have used, so people can look for that as well.
On Itch.io ratings are shown after the rating period has ended. There will be an overall winner, but you can also be a winner of 1 or more criteria. When a game has received only a few ratings compared to a game that has received many ratings, there is a slight penalty for the game with fewer ratings since it is less reliable. When ratings games, you can check for games that received the least ratings to keep it fair (and fun) for everyone.
