Gift Jam is back (6th edition)

it's time to make games for those close to you

These last years have been rough for everyone. Make something small for a friend, your partner, or a relative. Thank them for their help during a hard time or just for making life a little bit happier. That's the theme of the jam!

When we talk about success that usually means making a lot of money with our games, having a great hit that everybody loves, selling tons of copies, and getting great reviews. Well, during this jam, success means making one person happy.

Many people craft amazing DIY gifts, we make games, let's use that skills to make a great present.

RULES:

  • Make a game for one specific person.
  • Finish the game before the deadline (or not, you can also start early). Most people will want to give their gifts on Christmas Day, but the final deadline is January 6th because many people in Spain wait for that day to hand their gifts. You can still make yours for Christmas Day (or any other date).
  • Pretty much everything is allowed. Can I use X engine? Sure! Can I make a boardgame? Go for it!

RECOMMENDATIONS (these aren't rules, follow them or not) :

  • Make it personal!
  • Spend less than 6 hours working in the game.
  • It can be something as small as an inside joke that makes that person laugh.
  • Maybe you can also work with that person to make their gift, sharing the experience can be quite cool (just try to focus on the fun/creative part of development).
  • If you're making it for somebody who doesn't usually play games, make it as accessible as possible.
  • It's ok to make a private game that isn't available on itchio. It'd be great if you could mention you joined the jam either way.
  • If you have never made a game but still want to join the jam, take a look at Bitsy and Twine.
  • Share gifs and screenshots on twitter using #GiftJam.

Thanks to @IsiAngeath for the jam art :-D
