WELCOME

The GDXR (Game development and Extended Reality) club of Army Institute of Technology dispense before you GENESIS 4 , the funkiest and beginner friendly game jam of the year. The game jam will include a theme (to be disclosed at the start of the event) around which the participants must build a game or a prototype. 

The game should revolve around the theme and participants are given the freedom to interpret the theme however they want though in a limited period of time. The worthy will be chosen from each category and three conquerors will take away the overall fame and will receive prizes from a total pool of 75K+. the game jam will aim to  provide a great game development experience.

THEME

The theme for the event is "One Tool, Many Uses"


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Event is open for all.
  • Students studying at any college/university are eligible.
  • Any sign of plagiarism will lead to direct disqualification from the event.

GAME JAM RULES AND GUIDELINES  

Team Size and Participants

  • No limit on the number of teams per college.
  • Team size can range from 1 - 3 members.
  • Participants can take part in only one team.

Game Jam Structure 

  • The Game Jam consists of two rounds: 
  • Round 1 - Online Mode.
  • Round 2 - Offline Mode.

   Round 1(Online Mode): 

  • It will be hosted on itch.io.
  • The jam will last for 10 days.
  • Top 13 teams shortlisted from Round 1 will be invited for Round 2.
  • Teams are required to make a game around a theme.

   Round 2(Offline Mode):

  • The shortlisted teams will compete in round 2 at AIT Pune Campus.
  • Teams will be given a SURPRISE ELEMENT that they had to integrate to their existing games. 

 

Game Parameters

  • Your game should be made within the stipulated time.
  • The game should be relevant to the theme for it to be considered for evaluation. 
  • The game must not be a copy of any existing game, it should be unique.  
  • Teams can use any game engine as long as it meets the following requirements. 
  • The game must be published and submitted through itch.io page.
  • The game can be played by a wide variety of audiences without installing any kind of software other than the game itself. 
  • The game can be distributed to the audience without violating any licensing or Terms and conditions of the game engine or the assets used.

Assets Usage

  • Participants are allowed to use individual assets.
  • Usage of full scenes or pre-made game prefabs is not allowed.
  • Usage of Copyrighted assets and content will lead to disqualification.

Round 2 at AIT Pune

  • The teams will be given a Surprise Element, which they have to integrate in their games.
  • The teams will be given 24 hours to make required modifications and integration of the surprise element to their game.
  • All selected teams should reach AIT Pune campus for this event on or before the given date.
  • Failing to reach will result in disqualification from the event.
  • All teams are required to bring their own laptops/setups for the final round.           

                                        

Judgement Criteria

   Round 1:

  • Concept and Complexity of the Game.
  • Innovative Approaches to the Theme.
  • Art, Audio, and Graphics.
  • Innovative Approach towards Game Mechanism.
  • Enjoyment factor for players.
  • Effectiveness of narrative and storytelling.    

   Round 2:

  • Enhancement of overall gameplay by the modifications made by adding the Surprise element.
  • The changes made add to the betterment of the game mechanics and narration.
  • Integration of the Surprise element with the existing game. 

Submission Process

  • The first round is online and teams are required to publish their games along with a short gameplay video on the itch.io page.
  • Games must be submitted within the designated duration.
  • The submission will be considered invalid if the team is not registered in Unstop.
  • Provide a concise and engaging overview of your game, including its title, genre, and a brief description of the gameplay for the online submission, also include screenshots or gameplay videos to showcase the visual aspects of your game.
  • Highlight any unique and distinct art style or design element in your game.

   Controls and User Interface:

  • Provide the control scheme for your game.

   Technical Details:

  • Provide technical information about the game engine, tools, and technologies used in development. 
  • Mention any performance optimizations and stability measures.

   Contact Information: 

  • Provide clear and up-to-date contact information in case the reviewers have questions or need further details. 


NOTE - Change in rules and other necessary actions solemnly resides in the hands of AIT GDXR CLUB and will be notified through Instagram and discord handles.
