🎮 October Game Jam – Game Developers of Dallas

Where: Collin College, Frisco Campus – PFIT-112, 9700 Wade Blvd, Frisco, TX 75035 (Hybrid: join in-person or online via Discord)

The GDoD October Game Jam is a week-long event where developers, designers, and artists come together to create a fully functional game. Form teams, brainstorm ideas, and develop games around a surprise theme revealed at the start of the jam.

• Kick-Off: Oct 18 | 10 AM – 6 PM

• Work Day: Oct 19 | 10 AM – 6 PM

• Presentations & Demos: Oct 25 | 1 PM – 4 PM

Submissions Due: Oct 25 | 12 PM CST

This jam is all about collaboration, experimentation, and fun. Whether you join remotely or in-person, all skill levels are welcome!

 Theme Reveal: 🎃 Theme: Trick or Treat

Your game must include a trick, a treat, or your own twist on the idea.

Interpret the theme however you like — spooky, sweet, mysterious, funny, chaotic, or clever.

Need inspiration?You can play off:
-Candy and rewards 🍬
-Pranks, surprises, or deception 👻
-Costumes, disguises, or swapping roles 🎭
-Choices with consequences — trick or treat?
-Something that looks like a treat… but isn’t 😉

You don’t have to stick to Halloween — just make sure your game ties back to tricks, treats, or the contrast between the two.

No pornographic content, nudity, or illicit drug references 

All content must either be created by the team, otherwise you must have the relevant licenses to use it

Do I have to follow the theme?
Following the theme will be looked on more favorably by the judges - so we recommend it!

What engine can I use?
You can use any engine or framework you like. You may even make your own if you want!

Can I submit more than one game?
Yes, but that is generally not advised .
