Welcome to MGDC Game Jam 2025!

The Game Dev Club at MacEwan is hosting it's first ever game jam since the re-establishment of the club! Game Jam 2025 is a three day event where students across Edmonton come together to make some games! The event is being held at MacEwan Campus in Building 11. Due to the rules set out by MacEwan University, Game Jam 2025 is unfortunately not an overnight event but participants are allowed to work on the game at home! This event is also sponsored by Edmonton Screen!

Participation.

How it works?

The goal of the Game Jam is to make a game within the 48 hours of the event. At the start of the event a theme is revealed which will be the core theme of each game. Once the theme is revealed, participants will start to meet one another and create groups. Please note that participants can join the event with an already established team. We only ask that teams are willing to accept any floaters if any are present. Following the team creation will be the game production phase. Teams will have a total of 48 hours to produce a game! Once the 48 hours is up, we will have time to present the games created as well as a few words from guest speakers.

There are no rules for team creations. As stated, participants may have an already established team. A team can also just be one person. There is no max team size however we recommend a team size no larger than 8.
