Games of Symphonies is a game jam where music is your main inspiration. The goal of this jam, is to let the composers shine ! What does it mean ? Well... You'll have to create a game with a music as a theme.

This idea came to me a long time ago. I heard about the Silly Symphonies from Disney and learned that they were doing short movies following a music composition when usually, it's the composer who has to make a music fitting the movie. So I told myself, why not doing the same with games ?

As it is the first edition, I will choose an already existing music. But in the future, I'll be considering having some composers to let them shine !

And the theme is...

You Have to Have Hope, Moondog, 1953

Reminder :  You must NOT use the music in your game, you just use it as an inspiration.

Advice :

You can use inspiration about the artist, the music, the context, an instrument, etc.

When submitting your game, youu can fill the field : "Anyting you want to share with us ?", and explain what inspired you  (it can help the others to have a better understanding of how you have incorporated the theme into your game :D)

You have one week ! Good luck !

Here's our twitter, we will put some news about the jam and promote the winners here !

At the end of the jam, the contestants will have a week to vote. Games are rated on six categories :

Overall : Your overall rating, what you would score the game out of 5.
Fun : Did you enjoy it ?
Gameplay : Was it interesting ? Innovative ?
Audio : Does the audio fitthe game ? (Bonus if the music is a reminder of the theme)
Graphics : Does it look nice ?
Theme : Does it fit with the theme ? For example, is the subject of the music in this game ? Or the emotion it procures ? Or anything else ?

I don't understand how to use a music as a theme. You can pick a lot of things from a music, it can be an instrument for example, an emotion, something about the context of the music or the composer, the genre, the lyrics etc.
For example, if the music is Bella Ciao, by hearing it, you understand it's italian, so you can make a game related to Italy. It's a protest song, you can think of a game as a protestation etc.
It's according to your interpretation. When submitting your game, you'll have a field that allows you to share anything you want, it can be how you've decided to interprete the music for example.
