hey my awesome stay-at-home classmates! (you will find the German version below)
this is officially the first games class game jam! Wow, exciting!
What is this? This is a game jam, that means we all are challenged to make a little game (or prototype or interactive art) in the time given. For this jam this will be one week. For every jam there will be a certain theme you want to have in your game.
And why is this? A game jam is a great way to look at gamemaking. Often we get stuck in our head about a big project and think way to much about everything. In a game jam, with it's set deadline and short amount of time, we are forced to think small. It is meant to take the pressure away and just create something for fun.
To sum it up: this is a games class exclusive jam. That means this jam is not listed and there should be no other people able to find this jam and participate. THAT MEANS: it is just family! So please don't worry about your game being "not good enough" or "not game enough". As I said everything slightly interactive is welcome here. Even just a walkable 3D/2D environment. You even can make a cardgame or a boardgame, if you want (presentation will be a little bit more difficult though). Your games won't be rated (but celebrated).
How it works
1. You have one week of time.
2. You have an idea.
3. You have a whole lot of free game engines you can use ( for example: Bitsy ; Unity ; Twine, but there a lot more!).
4. You have the internet's friendly people with all their amazing tutorials (if you need).
5. You have a lot of fun creating!
6. You show us.
There are not much rules:
- Make sure you are creating at least 80% of your game in this one week.
- You of course can partner up with people for a project (as long as you stay socially distant, lol).
- Your game has some element in it that fits with the theme.
