Introduction
Welcome to the Gameflip game-making marathon! This is our first Gameflip Game Jam (or GF Jam for short) of 2023, and it was thought of as an initiative to support indie game development and the gaming community as a whole. It does not matter if you have just begun your developer journey or have been at it for a long time, we’re challenging everyone to create a game in 12 days!
Theme
The theme for this Jam is: “Hypercasual skill-based game”!
We’re looking to see your best bite-sized, sub-5-minute, leaderboard-based games that are fun and easy to play, but hard to master.
Prizes
For our inaugural GF Jam we’ve decided to put up some prizes we think the community will enjoy.
The top 3 submitted games, as decided by the judges, will receive $100.
In addition, all submitted games will be considered for a revenue-share publishing deal with Gameflip and our partnered publisher, including resource support to refine the game.
Key Points

Additional Info
- What is a hypercasual skill-based game?
We’re looking to see some super interesting and creative takes on a game that can be learned very quickly but will require lots of practice to master. These games can be built around some randomness but skill should be at the forefront. We’ve come a long way since flapping birds and surfing subways, the gaming space is ready for some new ideas!
- Games need to show, by the end of each session, the Final Score. A leaderboard is optional.
- Entries must be safe for all audiences and have no violent elements.
- Participants younger than 13 years old must have their games uploaded by a parent or guardian.
- Only one person per team needs to join itch.io to submit the game. Other members of the team can be tagged as contributors if they have itch.io accounts.
- Get as close to a finalized game as possible.
- External libraries, assets, game engines, and pre-existing code can be used as long as you have developed yourself or own the rights of using and reproducing it.
- We are looking for new games, please do not submit games you have already created.
- Having a rough design idea for your project before the beginning of the jam is not only allowed but also a good idea.
- The judges are members of Gameflip with years of experience in the gaming industry in both AAA companies and indie studios.
- No family members of the judges or any worker of Gameflip are allowed to participate in this Game Jam.

- Winning does not guarantee a publishing deal.
