This jam is now over. It ran from 2025-02-01 02:00:00 to 2025-03-22 01:00:00.

Welcome to the first ever game jam hosted by the Game Development Club, University of Oregon! Make a game in as little or as much time as you consider sensible, and post about it on our Discord!

Rules

  • Don't take it too seriously. The main goal of this club is to have fun while learning about game development. There should never be any pressure on project collaborators to deliver a market-ready product or adhere to deadlines. Creating an unfinished game is still a valuable experience.
  • Don't steal other people's tasks. When someone volunteers to create a game asset, write some code to do a specific function, and so on, no one else should work on it at the same time. To sum up, try to avoid duplication of work. Don't be a contribution hoarder.

  • Don't override the project coordinator. The project coordinator is the person that pitches the game idea and asks for volunteers. The project coordinator is the boss of their project. If you have a creative difference with the coordinator, don't try to take over leadership. Instead, start your own project.

  • Don't get cash involved in the process. This is a casual organization dedicated to learning. Please don't focus on generating revenue. I would strongly recommend that any completed group projects be submitted online for free instead of paid.

  • Usage of Generative AI is heavily discouraged and should be limited if used at all. The goal of this organization is to teach about game development, and that includes working with others. If you're thinking of using generative AI for something such as art, game writing, voice acting or programming, it's very likely that you could (and should) add an artist, writer, voice actor or programmer instead. Acceptable uses for generative AI may be as inspiration or to create placeholders, but should not be included in the final product.
