FEMICOM Museum announces a new series of game jams with themes inspired by our favorite femme / feminine games, software, hardware, and toys of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

The first FEMICOM game jam is taking place April 15 - May 5, 2015!

THEME ANNOUNCED: "Here's to Theresa Duncan!"

In the mid-1990s, Theresa Duncan designed three warmly funny, offbeat CD-ROM point-and-click adventure games for girls. Chop Suey (1995), Smarty (1996), and Zero Zero (1997) combine surreal humor and a colorful alt-rock aesthetic to produce convention-defying play. Please consider creating a game that incorporates visual, gameplay, or other kinds of elements inspired by these three remarkable girls' games. Learn more about Rhizome's digital preservation project around Theresa Duncan's games: http://rhizome.org/events/theresa-duncan-cd-roms/.

New and inexperienced developers are encouraged to participate. Some game development resources:

In the future, FEMICOM may sell inexpensive, limited-edition CD-ROM game compilations to raise funds for our operations. When you upload your game, you will be asked whether you wish to grant permission for your game to be included in this compilation.
