Welcome!

Every year (for 5 years now!), AeLa takes a few days off of our usual production schedule to make whatever we want - a game or otherwise!

As the name implies, this jam was initially created with the intention of lasting 48 hours. And while we still believe that 48 hours is a really great amount of time for a game jam to last, it doesn't leave a lot of flexibility for participants to fit the jam into their schedules. For this reason, we’ve expanded the time frame of exprmt48 to a whole week, so you can choose when and how you work on your project! Set aside two days and jam it out Ludum Dare style, or work on it a little bit each day.

Theme

This year's theme is yet to be announced.

...but ultimately, please use this jam to work on whatever game/project you've been wanting to make for other jams, but haven't because you aren't sure if it'll come together! The "exprmt" in exprmt48 is all about getting experimental!

When is it?

This year, the jam will be open from 12pm ET on Friday, July 17th until 12pm ET on Friday, July 24th, at which point submissions will close.

Then, at 7pm on the 24th, the team will be playing through all the submitted games on a stream in the AeLa Discord server!

As usual, after the jam has ended and all submissions are entered, a random participant will be selected to win an AeLa merch prize, including a t-shirt of your choice from the merch store and some stickers.

To join in the community before, during, and after the jam - as well as to watch the play-through stream on July 24th - join the Aesthetician Labs Discord server!

Check out the entries to jams in previous years! (2022 / 2023 / 2024 / 2025)
