What is this?

Inspired by this tweet, this game jam is about making... well, everything but the game!

Make cover art, promotional posters, readme files, user manuals, even fake reviews. Make an Itch.io page (or even a Steam page, if you have the money and it's that type of game), or go super indie and host it on a forgotten site. You can do as much or as little promotion as you want. There is only one rule for this game jam:

YOU MAY NOT MAKE THE ACTUAL GAME!

After the contest is over, you can do what you want, but until then, the game itself cannot exist.

Happy making!

PRIZE(S):

The winner of the jam will receive the following: $10, Free copies of all currently published games by Yitz, and hopefully other prizes TBD.

If you want to add to the prize pool (free copies of your own published games, money, etc.), please contact me here.

    RULES:

  1. After the jam, all art and concepts submitted will be considered to be in the public domain, unless explicitly stated otherwise. The purpose of this jam is to spark creativity, so if you don't want to see your ideas used by others, say so in your submission and game page!
  2. All entrants must submit the following material, or links to material, in order to be considered:
    1. Official "Game Page," hosted by a website of your choice, where potential players of your nonexistent game can download its nonexistence.
    2. Game description (within said "game page"), describing in as much detail as possible the gameplay, art-style, and story of your nonexistent game.
    3. Game art, including logo and "screenshots" (three at minimum) of said nonexistent game.
  3. Additional inclusions to the world of your nonexistent video game will increase your likelihood of winning. Some examples include (but are not limited to) the following:
    1. Game trailer of nonexistent game
    2. Readme.txt file for nonexistent game
    3. User manual for nonexistent game
    4. Player and critic reviews of nonexistent game (fake, obviously)
    5. Concept art for nonexistent game
    6. Press kit for nonexistent game
  4. Don't be a jerk! Please be ethical in your development process, by making it clear to potential fans that your game isn't actually real. Do not put your nonexistent game behind a paywall. We don't want anyone to accidentally pay for something that doesn't exist.
  5. Have fun :)

    Voting:

Anyone who submits or contributes may vote on the winner. The sole criteria for judgment is:

"How likely would I be to play the game if it existed?"

    Happy  developing!
