Learn how to make a video game!

Overview:

HI! This GameJam is hosted by Sean Crowley and Hunter Barabas. The purpose of a GameJam is to create a game!! This would be best suited to visual design, computer science, or tech related majors. However, anyone and everyone is welcome. We have tutorials posted on how to use game making software like Unity, Godot, or Twine.  People without any programming or tech knowledge should probably focus on using Twine. 

THE THEME IS: "ONLY ONE"

Steps: 

1. click 'join GameJam'. If you don't already have an itch account, make one with any email
2. join the discord: https://discord.gg/TVTmG7f
3. go to the tutorials in our discord, learn to make games. if you have any questions, admins are here to help
4. go to the google forms linked and submit your theme (games made will have to follow this theme) https://forms.gle/pT6hRRxt5Z5exxiNA
5. Nov 6th is the official start date. before then, themes may be submitted to determine what our overall theme was.
6. when submitting, there will be 2 fields will be available for submissions.

   
   

   1. One will be for the game itself, the other for you ESU email
   2. if you are part of a team, only one ESU email is needed for your team

Rules:

• You will have 1 weekend to make a game. DON'T worry if you have no idea how to do that. we have tutorials posted in our discord
• Before the game jam starts, participants will submit themes. These themes will decide what kind of game you are to make.
• No copyright infringement (please don't make a Mario game)
• Follow the theme. if the theme is "connect" maybe you have pieces that connect together, maybe you connect the dots, maybe players connect. Be creative but make sure you actually incorporate the theme.
• No lewd content, keep it PG-13
• You can form teams, you don't have to make a game solo but some find that more fulfilling. If this is your first GameJam, I suggest forming a team
• only people who join the GameJam here are able to vote on a winner. You don't need to make a game to be part of the voting, but you might as well.
• voting will take place during the week following the end date. (Nov 8th is the end date. voting starts then and ends Nov 13)

Use the time until the GameJam begins to follow through tutorials and learn how to make a basic game so you're prepared for the time constraint when we begin.

There will be a stream hosted on discord by the admins when the GameJam begins. We will be revealing the theme at that time.
