ESCAPE ROOM JAM - A 2018 Camp Fanjammer Game Jam!
For this jam, we'll each be making a Room Escape Game. For those who haven't played this genre before, the premise is simple. Your character(s) are locked in a room and they must escape using whatever they can find inside the locked room.
Examples:
Crimson Room - http://escaperoom.net/play-17.html
What is a Live Escape Room? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAlZaJ3gjl0
RULES:
1.) Your game must take place inside a single room.
2.) There is a win condition in which your player successfully leaves the room.
3.) You may join a team and make a game together.
4.) You may also create a tabletop version that can be played in a real room. For those submissions, please see the tabletop submissions section below.
BONUS ACHIEVEMENTS
For those who want an additional challenge or just need some inspiration!
1.) But Can You Use THIS?
Generate a list of random items from here: https://www.randomlists.com/things and use them in your game!
2.) One More Thing!
There is an additional mechanic that creates conflict for the player, such as: they only have 10 minutes to escape, there are traps that can kill them, or there is another character preventing the player from escaping.
3.) No Key Hunts Here!
No physical keys (such as card keys or metal door keys) are used in your game.

BONUS TIPS FOR NEW DEVS:
1.) Keep it simple - just one room.
2.) Make it playable, not perfect.
3.) Don't be too hard on yourself! :)
4.) Even if you don't 'finish', submit what you do have!
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR GAME:
1.) Create an itch.io account. (It's really quick and easy.)
2.) Login and click on the down arrow next to your user-name.
3.) Click on "Upload New Project."
4.) Follow the instructions on the upload page and fill out as much information as you want.
5.) Upload the game file.
6.) If you have time, upload a title image or some screenshots.
7.) Once you've uploaded the game to itch, come back here and submit your game to the game jam!
8.) Marvel at your accomplishment and revel in the joy of discovering everyone's creations!
FOR TABLETOP SUBMISSIONS: If you're submitting a tabletop game, make sure to save it as a type of file that people can easily open and print out, such as a Word Doc or a PDF file (as people may not have photoshop or other specific programs). Bonus points if you can get players to use household objects and common items as playing pieces! (For example, most people have a pair of dice or some spare change.) If you need a good example of this, the people of CheapAss Games do just that!
