Here's what we're looking for:
Most specifically, we want games that feel like they were made at home by some guy (or girl) hobbiest that sat fown and made a game in the 90's
We want the best show of your engine.
Who can enter? - Anyone! Of any skill level. Work solo or in teams- anything you'd like!
What's the theme? - No specific theme outside of making a 2d game engine and a game that shows it off. Make what comes into your head.
What tools can I use to make the game? - As the game jam states, you need to create a game engine. Please try to make your gamee playable in Windows without needing to install another program to run it. If you can't build to Windows, consider building for in-browser (webGL) play.
Am I allowed to use asset packs? - Certainly! If you have them and they fit your theme and can use them in your game engine, go for it!
How to make a game engine? - i will leave a link to a github page where all the basic files you will need are there and there are a good few good tutorials out there also the absolute best book ever i will leave a link to.
What are the details on voting? - Voting is up to the judges, and will last from the end of the jam until August 9th! Entries will be voted on the following criteria: Controls, Graphical Presentation, Audio Design, Fun, Overall Rating, and game engine.
