A collaboration of Mektepp and VR First BAU, the Educathon is Turkey’s first XR hackathon dedicated to education. It brings together teachers, software developers, and interdisciplinary designers to explore and prototype immersive tools and applications that will improve education today.

The inaugural Educathon will focus on Augmented Reality (AR), with mixed teams of educators and creatives conceiving, designing, and executing their educational AR prototypes over the course of 48 hours. At the end of the 48 hours, projects will be presented and scored according to educational, technical, user experience, and scalable criteria. The three highest scoring projects, as chosen by a jury of experts, will be awarded prizes.

Experienced mentors and assistants will be on site during the Educathon to support teams throughout the hackathon. With many guests and thought leaders on subjects ranging from pedagogy, entrepreneurship, gamification, and immersive technologies, the Educathon fosters a true interdisciplinary environment and takes place from April 5 to 7 at the Bahçeşehir University VRFirst Laboratory.
