🔴Theme🔵

"Red Oni, Blue Oni" is a common trope in often portraying two individuals with opposing personalities/values that causes them to argue but also complement each other. They don't necessarily have to linked to those specific colours.

Hence the name: "Duo Jam"!

Your entry will have to be focused on a pair of characters that embody the following traits:

RedBlue
More brawny than brainy, extroverted, enthusiastic, determined, and filled with a zest for life.More intellectual, proud, traditional, introverted, cultured and highly intuitive.

🔴FAQ🔵

Is there a Discord server where I can join fellow jammers?

Why, yes! Come join us at Sprout (we're a server focusing on games writing!), but please make sure you read the server rules!

Can I begin work on my entry before the jam starts?

You can do any pre-work like jot down ideas, draw sketches, or select any pre-made free assets. But you can't start working on anything that will directly translate into assets for the entry. The only exception to this rule is that you are allowed to prepare your base engine beforehand, or recycle settings/basic functions from old projects.

What genres are allowed?

Any kind of story-focused media is allowed! You can submit an interactive fiction game, a VN, a (TT)RPG or even a zine!
You may submit entries that would normally fall into other categories (like a platformer or puzzle game). But as this is a narrative-driven jam, and its purpose is to encourage people to practice their writing, please make sure the narrative element is central to your entry.

What is not allowed?

  • Don't submit an entry that depicts gore or any sort of graphic on-screen violence.
  • Absolutely no hate speech, LGBTQ+fobia, misogyny, etc. Just be a decent human being, please.

What engines can I use?

Whatever you feel comfortable with! Or maybe you could use this jam as an opportunity to try something new?
