Quick Explainer

What is a Dungeon Game? A dungeon game is a genre where players navigate through a series of interconnected rooms or levels, typically filled with puzzles, monsters, traps, and treasures, in pursuit of a specific objective, such as defeating a boss, solving a mystery, or collecting valuable items.

What is a Dungeon Structure? It defines the main goal of each level that the gamer will play. You can set different quests of the same nature/logic for each room. You can create one or multiple dungeon structures, each with a clear challenge that any gamer can understand.

Those are only examples:

• The player must collect a precise number of resources to activate a portal.
• The player must destroy a precise number of a game object (Mine or Totem…)
• Players must complete challenges to unlock the exit, such as killing X enemies to activate the portal.
• Or your own dungeon structure logic. Be a game design pioneer!

How long the game jam last?

2 Weeks!

Why 2 weeks? A “Game Jam” goal is to have fun and to relax. If you're feeling stressed while participating, you might be missing the point. With a comfortable two-week timeframe, you have plenty of time to explore creative ideas without undue pressure.

The games will be chosen by developers & contributors who participated in the jam. Power to the active people!

How should you rank games?

• Gameplay:
  • What are the core game mechanics?
  • How are the controls set?
  • How unique is the experience?
• Enjoyment:
  • How much did you enjoy your time with the game?
  • How much FUN did you feel while playing?
• Level Design:
  • How well each level is structured?
  • How clear is it to understand the level design quest to accomplish?
  • Fun and innovative LD components integrated within the level
• Theme:
  • How well did the entry stick to the theme?
  • Did you like their interpretation of it?
• Initiatives:
• Did the entry go beyond the expectations?
• Unique innovations implemented?

Game Jam Prize:

• First Place: $300
• Second place: $200
• Third place $100

The JAM has to reach a minimum of 30 contestants for the prize to be granted.

FAQ:

• Can I submit more than one game?  Yes. However, it needs to be a different dungeon structure if you do.
• Can I submit a game I already made?  No. You may only submit projects made within the time frame. We do check*.*
• Can I make changes during the rating period? No.
• What engine can I use? You can use any engine or framework you like.
• Do I have to follow the theme? Yes. It is of the utmost importance that you respect the theme.
• I have code and assets from other Jams I wish to use. Are these allowed? Yes!
