There’s so many wonderful game jams out there with wonderful prompts, but aren’t you tired of all of them being only for games? Do you tire of forcing yourself to write a branching game just to qualify? Do you want a game jam where you can just sent games written in twine? Heck, even just send something written, period? This is the jam for you.

Write Jam is a month-long game jam where you submit a written game; be it a one-route visual novel, a twine game with one route, or your story as a PDF or ePUB.

THEME (optional): DRAGONS AND MERMAIDS

SECOND THEME (optional): SUN AND MOON RIVALRY

The themes can be interpreted how you wish or both can be combined. The sun and moon could have rival avatars that are secretly friends. A dragon and a mermaid could be struggling to keep their people from fighting. Or your story could simply feature a dragon or a mermaid, a sun god or a moon envoy. The choice is yours!

If your submission is completed by the end of the jam, you may be asked to join a bundle featuring jam submissions. We are currently thinking about this option!

SUBMISSION RULES

• No AI please, for the sake of event integrity
• Although any submission is welcome, it is preferred to be written for this jam or during the jam period. Please do not jam spam.
• Have fun! We have no discord yet because admin is at server limit and has no nitro, so please use the forums to ask questions!
• You can use any engine for your short story (Twine, Inkle, Ren’py, etc), or it can be a PDF or ePUB. Make something!
• Despite the theme and title featuring a dragon, your story is NOT required to have a dragon. The admin just loves dragons too much and Write Jam seemed too basic for search engines.
• There is no word count minimum. Your submission can be a poem written in twine or Ren’py, a poetry collection, a flash fiction story, a short story or a novella
