Hey!
I am Draconic Chipmunk.

This is the first time I'm hosting something of this sort, so I am not super well-organized, but hopefully, this should be fun. As the name says, you are submitting a one-page RPG at the end of this jam. There's no specific theme, so feel free to be as creative and as awesome as you want.

A one-page RPG is a print-and-play RPG game that can be printed on one sheet of A4. This may use both sides of the A4 sheet. You can check out some classics like Lasers and Feelings, Tempora Mutantur, CRAM and Everyone is John. Feel free to use them for inspiration, though please try not to simply adapt an existing system. (How far can you stretch 'inspiration'? That's up to you. )

The jam starts at 12:00 AM IST on 08/09/2021. It will last for 8 days, ending at 11:59 PM IST on 15/09/2021.

Rules:

  1. The most important rule: Please be a decent person. Don't be hateful, don't be racist or sexist, and try to maintain these rules through your game design and interactions with other games.
  2. It would be preferable if you keep your game PG. If you absolutely must design a game that is sexually explicit or inappropriate, please tag it appropriately.
  3. This is a solo jam, you must work alone in the actual design process. (Feel free to have friends playtest for you though)
  4. You can use any characters, art, or materials in the public domain. You are responsible for making sure none of your work is copyrighted.
  5. Your game must fit on one two-sided A4 sheet. This means that the player must be able to print out the entire game on one A4 sheet. Black-and-white printable files are a bonus.
  6. You may assume the player has access to dice. You may also assume the player has access to coins and other everyday objects that they may use.  Additional pieces of blank paper for writing on are allowed (e.g. using a notebook for writing down character attributes, etc).
  7. You may ask the player to write on the page, tear the page, fold the page, or cut the page, but in this case, remember that the document is printed on both sides of the A4 sheet. This means if you cut out something on one side, that bit goes missing from the other side as well.
  8. Your game may be single-player or multiplayer. It must, however, be a role-playing game.
  9. Once the voting period is finished, feel free to add additional files with optional files like character sheets and the like. Please wait till the end of the jam to do this though.
  10. Have fun!

Rating:

At the end of the jam, you can rate the other games that have been created for the jam. Games submitted are rated on the following 6 criteria. PLEASE REMEMBER: Your game need not target all of the criteria. You can make a game that primarily focuses on one. You may also decide to create something cool that does not neatly fit within the criteria. That is absolutely fine. These do not determine the value of your game.

  1. Fun: How enjoyable it is to play, the rush you feel when you open the game, roll the dice, create a character, defeat an enemy.
  2. Innovation: How new and exciting it is, how unique and interesting it is.
  3. Theme: How powerful and entertaining the setting is and how well the game mechanics interact with the theme.
  4. Mood: How moody the game is, whether it achieves a particular feel around the table. Is it particularly scary? Does it always get you laughing?
  5. Art (Optional): How well-made the art of the game is. This may not apply to all games, some will not have any art and some will have minimal art. Feel free to leave it blank for those games.
  6. Ease of Understanding: How easy the rules are to understand, interpret and play. This does not mean the rules are simple, but rather they are well-explained. You're essentially rating the design of the page.

Finally, there is an overall category. Don't feel pressured to aggregate your scores in other categories. Rather, use this to reflect your overall experience with the game.

Please play and rate other games. It really helps.

Rating will go on for 48 hours, ending on 17/09/2021 at 11:59 PM IST.
